Here is some more information about the beautiful Ashley Callie rose, featured here, and where to find this magnificent tribute to Ashley’s memory.

The Ashley Callie roseRose grower Ludwig Taschner has dedicated the rose to Ashley in response to requests from the public. The deep, vibrant salmon colour of the blooms was specially chosen by Ashley’s family as this was her favourite colour and was worn by her in the television series.

“The fact that we had a good rose in the right colour told us that this rose was meant for her. For the family it means a great deal to have such a living memory of their daughter,’ said Ludwig.

Lauren Callie, Ashley’s sister, said on behalf of the family, “We would like to extend our sincere appreciation to Ludwig for his kindness and immense generosity in dedicating such a fitting and beautiful rose to Ashley. Not only is a rose such a special and perfect way for us to ensure her memory lives on, but it also serves as a symbol of my sister’s zest for life, her love of all things beautiful and her passion for nature.”

The Ashley Callie rose grows into a large, voluptuous bush, similar in performance and height to the popular white ‘Iceberg’ rose. It flowers prolifically, producing clusters of deep salmon coloured blooms, which are firm and last well on the bush as well as in the vase. The foliage is glossy and healthy, making this an easy to maintain rose.

In line with the family’s wishes, a portion of the price of each rose that is bought will go to two charities supported by Ashley: The National Council of SPCA’s and the Animal Anti-Cruelty League.

The Ashley Callie rose can be obtained from Ludwig’s Roses Egoli, Linbro Park (take the N3, London Road offramp) or Ludwig’s Rose Farm (N1 North, Wallmansthall offramp), or Ludwig’s Roses Soleil, Lynnwood Road, Pretoria, or Ludwig’s Roses Winelands, N1 to Paarl, Stellenbosch/Klipheuwel offramp.

At a later stage the roses will be available at Roses for U, in Bloemfontein (051 4417876) and Star Roses in Hillcrest (031 7655777).

It’s still freaky to think that a mere month ago the while concept of this website didn’t exist, and look how long it is today and how many people frequent it. Truly amazing… for an amazing lady!

They should post her last couple of scenes of Isidingo on the site. She has looked incredible the last couple of days on Isidingo. Each time I see her, I keep thinking what a waste of a stunning life and talent. God bless you Ashley Rest – in Peace

I agree with u about posting last couple of scenes on the site since I some times i miss it,
I don’t agree with u about waste of life and talent,as it is our creator who detirmines when @ how He calls us.I BELIEVE ASHLEY CALLIE HAS FINISHED THE RACE otherwise she could have survived the accident
She answered to the call @ the height of her God given talent so that we can truely appreciate each other. TRULY AMAZING LADY u r right
look at our frequent visit on this site(we are family)

I do not agree with you. How can you say she was at the height of her talent??? Yes – she was looking fantastic and at an amazing level of acting at her untimely departure but most certainly not at her ultimate peak. Ashley had the talent to go far and beyond the local screens!!!! She was on her uphill climb of constantly “wowing” her audience at her development, charisma and awe on TV. She was destined for greater things!!! That is evident to everyone who ever watched her as she captured the audience with her spell.

Helen Says:

I agree that Ashley looked incrediby beautiful in the last few episodes especially. I still find it difficult to believe that she has gone from us. We will always remember her fondly and her presence will continue to be with us in spirit. May God bless her family and bereaved ones, give them strength to cope with their pain. Rest in peace dear Ashley

It is sad that the time that we will still see her on Isidingo must be drawing to a close fairly soon. Yet, she will live on in our hearts and this beautiful rose will forever serve as a reminder of one of South Africa’s finest examples of beauty and talent.
I wrote a personal tribute to her entitled ‘The Rose of Africa’, which I submitted to a group that I belong to called ‘Faithwriters’. You can read it by copying this link into your browser:
