Sara Says:

Dear Ashley

You don’t know me from a bar of soap and to be honest, I don’t know you either. However, I have come to love the character of Lee Haines that you play on Isidingo and was very upset to hear about your accident. Since then I’ve been reading all the comments and prayers that have been sent your way and don’t think there is anything else that I can say besides to add my voice to many.

Hang in there Ashley. I read an article where you said that Lee Haines is nothing like you. I disagree. Remember that you make Lee Haines the character that she is and therefore you have her drive, committment and tenacity in you. Use that now to get through this and come back to all your many fans who miss you terribly.

My daughter Staci also sends her love and wishes you a speedy recovery.

Get well soon.

To Ashley and her family

Just sending positive thoughts and hopes that you get through this ordeal ok, and that Ashley gets back on her feet.

We’d often see each other outside SABC, altho we never spoke. (I was always there doing voice work for TV 2) It was a shock to hear about the accident – but the main thing is that she’s alive and out of danger. God willing, she’ll be up and about soon.

Heya Ashley, Hear what God says:……
If I answer your prayer at once, it is because I am testing your faith. If I did not answer your prayer at once, it is because I am testing your patience.
If I did not answer your prayer at all it is because I have a better plan for you. Remember God’s promises are yes and Amen! He is God not man,
which explains why He can never fail, hold on, don’t be discouraged, your
miracle is knocking at the door of your heart. A little more faith is what you
need to see all your needs met. The Prayer Answering God is saying

He has met all your needs. Send this to all your pals out there, and you’ll see how God
will respond speedily to your needs. Thanks for continuing this circle of
prayer and word of encouragement , may God be with u all.

Hi Ashley,

My prayers and thoughts are with you. You a very talented actress and a beautiful soul.

Get well soon – I have sent my personal angel to keep an eye out on you …

We are thinking about you

Londeka Mlawuza Says:

Wishing you a speedy recovery Ash – May god be with the family during this time. Just remember that God is not spitefull and would never give you more than you can handle – He is not TESTING your strenght – but only giving you challenges to make you stronger for days to come. HE has a plan for each and every person on earth and when she wakes up she will realise how much she is loved – by people that she doesn’t even know. I am one of those people. I saw an interview that she did on Top Billing sometime back and she had such an amazing spirit about her, looked positively happy. She is one of the many people that have made South African TV what it is today – her passion for the art shines through. I am a fan of hers and the show – and the show will certainly not be the same without the ever so wonderful Leone Heini’s – Daddy’s princess.
With this tragic incident in mind – I encourage every one to reflect and be greatfull for all that we have – the Good and the Bad – It is all for a greater reason. May God bless you all.

Sandra De Sousa Says:

Hi Ashley :) I’m the wife of one of the EMT’s of Jhb EMS that tended to you at the accident scene. My husband, became an avid watcher of Isidingo (I suppose I didn’t really give him a choice in the matter!). He totally fell in love with your character Lee as well as your ladylike style, infectious smile and of course your brilliant acting skill! It was such a shock to him – seeing you the way you were; not able to string a conversation together – he was absolutely traumatised! We both wish you a speedy recovery and trust in God that you’ll be back (your old self) soon. You and your family are in our daily prayers…

To the Callie Family,

Someone once said to me that often it is the good that leave us when they are young, because they have already learned all of life’s lessons. And by that, I mean lessons like how to love, and be caring, and wisdom and so on. I don’t know Ashley personally, but she always struck me as such a genuine person, very together with a wonderful sense of humour. I think you could see what a lovely person she was just by her smile and her enthusiasm for life.
I am so sorry that she is gone.

This is a terrible day. I met Ashley shortly before she landed her part in Isidingo and knew straight away she had star quality. I can’t believe her life has ended so suddenly. She had fantastic style and I feel so sorry for her family and those close to her. At least her suffering is over but the loss is immense.

Rose Says:

Sheena Smolak Says:

To the Callie Family and those close to Ashley.

My deepest condolences during this very tragic time. My heart breaks for each and every one of you. I did not personally know Ashley but grew to love her smile and enjoyed her presence in my home each and every evening. She will be missed.

Nothing can ease the grief that I imagine you are feeling at this time but I hope the words of this poem will help, even if only a little.

“I’ll send you for a little time
A child of mine, He said,
For you to love the while she lives
And mourn for when she’s dead.

It may be forty or fifty years,
Or even two or three
But will you, till I call her back,
Take care of her, for me?

She’ll bring her charms to gladden you,
And should her stay be brief,
You’ll have her lovely memories
As solace for your grief.

I cannot promise she will stay,
Since all from earth return,
But there are lessons taught down there
I want this child to learn.

I’ve looked this wide world over
In my search for teachers true.
And from the throngs that crowd life’s lanes
I have selected you.

Now, will you give her all your love,
Nor think the labor vain,
Nor hate me when I come to call
To take her back again.”

I fancied that I heard him say,
‘Dear Lord thy will be done.’
For all the joy thy child shall bring,
The risk of grief we’ll run.

We’ll shelter her with tenderness,
We’ll love her while we may
And for the happiness we’ve known,
Forever grateful stay.

But should the angels call for her
Much sooner than we’ve planned,
We’ll brave the bitter grief that comes,
And try to understand

To Ashley’s family

Funeral Blues: W.H. Auden

Stop all the clocks, cut off the telephone,
Prevent the dog from barking with a juicy bone,
Silence the pianos and with muffled drum
Bring out the coffin, let the mourners come.

Let aeroplanes circle moaning overhead
Scribbling on the sky the message She Is Dead,
Put crêpe bows round the white necks of the public doves,
Let the traffic policemen wear black cotton gloves.

She was your North, your South, your East and West,
Your working week and Sunday rest,
Your noon, your midnight, your talk, your song;
I thought that love would last forever: I was wrong.

The stars are not wanted now: put out every one;
Pack up the moon and dismantle the sun;
Pour away the ocean and sweep up the wood;
For nothing now can ever come to any good.

Linda King Says:

Dearest Ash the reality of this tragic news has not yet sunk in, its amazing how the memories are just flooding back – right back to a family walk to Sugar Loaf at Umgazi – I think you were five yrs old – to working in the Furs garden at St Mary’s School, house plays and then on to Wits University Drama School and more recently a coffee to discuss the charity work I have been involved. Ash you always oozed passion for anything you were involved in, your dancing eyes, warm smile, quick wit and generous soul touched the lives of every-one you came into contact with. I guess God has a purpose and a plan for all of our lives and you have completed yours – may you rest in peace knowing that you used all your God given talents to perfection. May God streghten and comfort your family at this time and may you draw on the support of friends, family and the fans to carry you through. Tracey

Dianna Says:

To the Callie Family, relatives and friends of Ashleigh –
Isidingo has been the glue that has held my family together (for an hour daily) . As our favourite castmember We all loved Ashleigh in her role. My daughter had the privilege of spending an evening doing a photo-shoot for a launch which Ashleigh had attended together with other members of the Isidingo cast and came home full of wonderment to us about how she had photographed Ashleigh who looked like a million dollars – My daughters words….”Mom you won’t believe what a beautiful person she is – both in and out ……” She (my daughter) felt absolute honour and priviledge at having met her –
We woke up on Sat Morn to hear the awful shocking news of Ashleigh’s accident, the previous evening. We have been praying all week for her recovery – however God has plans of his own for her and as parents, fans and admirers and on behalf of our family – I would like to extend our most heart-felt and sincere condolences on her death. To the Callie Family

Heartfelt sympathy and sincere condolences to Ashley’s family.

It is with a very heavy heart that I say this to you. We may not know what pain you are going through but I am just imagining that if we only know her on our TV Screens and she became a part of us and we feel so much great pain then you must be going through hell. Please find comfort in knowing that the whole nation is with you in our prayers and may you be strong knowing that she is with her Creator.

To Ashley may you shine in heaven just as you were shining here and may the Good Lord keep her safely by His side and forever rest her soul. It is hard to go on after this but everything has a reason.

Sharon Sloane Says:
